The Poké Ball is a capsule designed for Pokémon Trainers to capture and store a single Pokémon. Once captured the Poké Ball can then be thrown by the trainer to send out the Pokémon stored within for use in battle.

In Smash Bros., the Poké Ball can be picked and thrown at an opponent, dealing damage on impact. However once the Pokéball hits the ground it will open up and release one of a multitude of various Pokémon ranging from the lowliest Goldeen to the powerful Arceus.
