Knuckles the Echidna first appeared in the 1993 Sega Genesis (Sega Megadrive in Europe) classic Sonic 3 as an antagonist. He worked alongside Dr. Ivo ‘Eggmann‘ Robotnik to approach sonic and collect the seven Chaos Emeralds. After Dr. Robotnik betrayed him, he teamed up with Sonic to ensure, that Dr. Robotnik cannot harm anyone anymore.

Knuckles is the Guardian of the Master Emerald and calls Angle Island his home.

When Knuckles appears on the battlefield he chases after the Players and deals damage with his punches. He can also dig into the ground and hit the player with a surprise attack. Every now and then he uses a Homing Attack similar to Sonic’s which can have great knockback and kill potential if the players percentage is high enough.

If Knuckles falls of the Stage, he appears next to the player who summoned him.

Knuckles disappears after 20 seconds.
