Hero enters the arena equipped with a sword and shield, and wielding familiar DRAGON QUEST spells like “Frizz,” “Zap” and “Woosh.”

In the Dragon Quest series, there have been many heroes who have taken the stage in their own games. Heroes from the series have mostly been known to fight using a sword, shield and magic spells. The series and its heroes have been influential to many future JRPGs, including Pokémon, Earthbound, and Fire Emblem. Unlike Fire Emblem and Earthbound, the heroes from Dragon Quest rarely have default names.

The default is based off of the hero from XI, who is the reincarnation of an ancient hero who would stop the darkness. The hero from III is perhaps the most honored, granting him the title Erdrick after defeating Baramos. The heroes from IV and VIII are also known for both slaying demons and lifting a curse from a royal family.

In Smash, they use a sword and shield like Link, but they also use a wide variety of spells. Like standard JRPGs, these will consume a magic meter. He also summons the other seven heroes for his Final Smash.

This is the first time ever that all four heroes from these DRAGON QUEST games are fighting together.
