Metroid

Metroids are organisms created by the Chozo, first discovered on the planet SR388. The Space Pirates and Galactic Federation bred and employed them as bioweapons.

Metroids latch onto opponents to drain them of their life energy. If the victim manages to shake them off, they will find other prey to feed on.
