Needless to say, when Super Smash Bros. Brawl was first announced, the arrival of Pit was lauded by many. The Kid Icarus series saw two installments released many years prior to the game, so Pit and the Kid Icarus universe was partially reinvented for the modern era.

Skyworld is the third level of the original Kid Icarus game, and reflects this development. Essentially, the entire stage consists of clouds covered in layers of marble - these act as solid platforms that cannot be passed through, but can be broken temporarily with enough damage. If a fighter meteor smashes another, they'll pass through the cloud as if it wasn't even there!
